Lullaby
Lullaby
This print was inspired by the work of Aphonse Mucha, one of the great Art Nouveau visionaries of the late 1800s.
When Japan finally opened to foreign trade in the mid 1800s, Japanese Ukiyo-e prints flooded Europe. The bold, graphic Japanese aesthetic inspired many European artists and sparked several new movements, including Art Nouveau.
In this print, one character is nodding off while his friends softly sing him to sleep. The soft, cool colors create an atmosphere of calm and safety.
